Cold callers offering to sell power tools in South Lakes

Alert message sent 05/10/2018 11:00:00

Information sent on behalf of Cumbria County Council

Cumbria Trading Standards are advising residents to be on their guard after a report was received about several males cold calling in the Lindal-in-Furness area offering to sell power tools.

In this instance an elderly male was in his home when the traders approached both his front and rear doors whilst using intimidating behaviour. They eventually left after the gentleman told them to leave.

The items being sold may seem like a bargain but could be counterfeit and may not conform to stringent current safety standards. We would always recommend that these types of products are bought from reputable sources.

Remember....

  • Never use cold callers
  • Spread the word and look out for vulnerable or elderly family, friends and neighbours
  • Report incidents or any information to Trading Standards on 03454 04 05 06 or Police 101
