Heavy rain and potential flooding for Cumbria

Alert message sent 28/10/2020 11:49:00

Information sent on behalf of The Environment Agency

The weather outlook for the next few days through to early next week is for heavy and persistent rain, particularly over higher ground. There will be bands of continuous heavy rain from Thursday morning through to Sunday. This rainfall will possibly result in flooding impacts across Cumbria.
Following a wet few weeks, rivers are expected to react to this rainfall and the Environment Agency are likely to issue flood alerts for most of Cumbria. Some rivers are also likely to reach flood warning levels and this will be monitored over the coming days. Environment Agency staff will be undertaking inspections of our defence structures and will remove any blockages on debris screens.
Be flood ready. It is important that you are prepared for flooding and we encourage you to take 3 simple steps:-
