Crime Prevention and Vigilance

Alert message sent 03/05/2021 20:42:00

Information sent on behalf of Cumbria Neighbourhood Watch

Protecting rural property today requires vigilance and an agile response. Thieves constantly change their targets and seek ways to defeat security measures.

Vigilance is of vital importance so that criminals can be identified and arrested.

Cumbria Constabulary are urging property owners to remain vigilant to acquisitive crime in the Millom/Copeland Rural area and ask that you report any sightings of Vans or similar vehicles capable of carrying Quad Bikes, Plant equipment etc that travel through your area late in the evening and through the night. It is believed that the favoured routes for these Criminals is via Corney Fell and minor roads in that area.

I would encourage you to report any suspicious activity to Police on 101 (Non-Emergency) or 999 (Emergency)

Use the Crimestoppers number to report rural crimes anonymously - call 0800 555 111

Please circulate as far and wide as you are able to so that the advice is freely available to as many people as possible.

Many thanks.
